Here are a couple of photos showing the progress being made on the building of our house and office in the Oudalan Ministry Centre in Gorom-Gorom.

Foundations: The house is being built in DWF Woodless Construction technology, with the whole building made of mud bricks - including the foundation. Because the ground is so poor, a very large foundation is necessary, and the mud bricks are laid inside for the foundation.

We were very impressed with the size of the house - larger than we had imagined - and by the hard work of the builders. Of course, everything is done by hand - no bulldozers or mechanical diggers - and it was about 42C in the shade while they were working.

The Walls Go Up: This is the building team standing in what will become the guest bedroom. Pierre sent us this photo today, and it is great to see things taking shape! We hope to have regular updates as things continue to make progress.

What It Might Look Like... This is a rough idea of what the house might look like once finished, including the arched mud brick roof.
