It is now the school holidays, so the school was empty of the normal buzz of children, but it was great to see the new constructions, especially the kitchen and the "breakout space", both built in the "woodless construction" style of the Development Workshop. They are more or less finished, with just tiling, rendering, and painting left to do. In the photo above, you can see the kitchen in the background and the breakout space to the right. Breakout SpaceThe Breakout Space (below) is an outside sheltered area, that is beautifully cool and shaded, where the children will be able to gather for eating, relaxing, or study. KitchenAt the kitchen (below) the school cooks prepare meals over a wood fire, that can be set either outside (with a protective wall), or inside (with a chimney). The kitchen also has a lockable store room attached for stocking foodstuffs in security, in line with WFP guidelines. Progress and PlansBelow you can get an idea of the layout of the school buildings so far (click on the picture for a larger version): We now want to start building the next classrooms, as we will need one for the new class that will be starting in October. This will be part of Phase 2 of the building project. If you would like to contribute towards the building of the school, click on the image below. Thank you.
