Gorom-Gorom Primary School

APT, together with Glenwood Church in Cardiff, is committed to support the church in Burkina Faso in building and resourcing a Christian primary school for Gorom-Gorom.

Classes started in 2008 in temporary accommodation, and the first three classrooms were finished in 2010, but there is still much to do.

We are looking for partners and donors in this project. To get behind the church's vision to provide a quality education for the poorest of the poor, APT has two projects that you can support:

  • SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT: to build a school which will create an environment which serves the school community, providing a learning experience which is as enjoyable, fruitful, and uplifting as possible.

  • SPONSOR A CLASS: to find churches that will be willing to sponsor a class of 40 children through six years of school, at €2,200 (currently $2,800 or £1,750) per year per class.

A Vision Becoming Reality

The project is the vision of Pastor Daniel Kabore of the Gorom-Gorom church, who for years has prayed for a Christian primary school in the town - a school open to all, regardless of religion, race, or sex, and particularly aimed at helping provide quality education for the poorest and most vulnerable sector of society.

Classes began in October 2008 in a mud-brick shelter, but the school already had a name: "Wakkil Alla" ("Trust in God" in the Fulani language). Nicodeme Miningou is the head teacher. He has moved up from the south of the country to start the school. He says:

"First I was daunted being asked to come here to start the school, but then I was encouraged that people believe in me, and that people are praying for our school."

Please pray for Daniel and Nicodeme as they seek to bring this vision to reality.
